Warmer Winters Collection

Warmer Winters Collection

With the slightest shift to cooler weather, we run out to sport our newly inspired layers.

Sooner than later however, the perpetual heat springs back into action giving us eighty-degree holiday gatherings. This brings the opportunity to jump start upcoming warmer looks in the months to come. A warmer winter at a Gainesville mid-century modern home served as the backdrop for our recent Gainesville Fashion Week photo shoot.

UF Health - Liminal Bell

UF Health - Liminal Bell

Imagery is powerful. Color, texture and composition all have a drastic effect on the atmosphere of a space. Nowhere is this concept more poignant than the Liminal Bell project installed at UF Health Davis Cancer Pavilion.

The UF Health team came to neutral7 with a specific vision for the look and feel of their installation space. We got to work producing and installing a radiant, full color wall graphic featuring a lush bamboo forest. The perspective of the photography really opens the space, giving the impression that one could walk into the seemingly endless mist.

"The word “liminal” is derived from the Latin “limen,” meaning “threshold.” At the completion of each patient’s cancer therapy, the patient is standing at the threshold of treatment and recovery. When patients ring the bell, it symbolizes transcendence into a life after cancer care."

- Daniel Stancampiano, UF Health

Social 28 gets a fresh new space!

Social 28 gets a fresh new space!

First impressions are everything! When we were approached to design the graphics for Social 28's leasing office, we knew we had to create a striking aesthetic that reflected the community's upscale feel. Based on the company's existing brand manual, we crafted a 2015 leasing campaign consisting of both exterior & interior graphics and large format printing.

The exterior was designed using the strikethrough elements included in their branding guide. These lines mimic the dashes found in the logo and tie the pieces together under a unified look. We carried this methodology through the rest of the project.

Once inside, prospective clients are greeted by an oversized wall graphic of the University/Downtown area. This large map was juxtaposed with large frosted acrylic prints featuring full color property renderings.

neutral7 also developed a series of iconography to be included on color coded geotags highlighting the area's many restaurants, bars, shops, and university buildings. The geotags were printed on a low-tack vinyl for easy application and removal.

Custom Fabrication at Canopy Apartments

Custom Fabrication at Canopy Apartments

Not all signage is created equal. Sometimes a project requires a custom touch to make the aesthetics feel just right. For Canopy Apartments, we developed backlit lobby signage and custom acrylic light box fixtures that really shine!

One important factor when considering updated signage is the current aesthetic. Canopy's established branding features striking orange elements alongside dark blues and black.

The team at Canopy also requested custom fit light boxes for their courtyard pillars. These illuminated cases were produced with a backlit tinted film and block-out strips for a unique textural effect.

Here at the shop, we're no stranger to large format graphics, so when MIG contacted us to produce graphics for the Envision Alachua event space, we started up our printers and got to work.

The focal point of the project was an oversized, cut wall graphic featuring the initiative's logo. A few ladders here, some elbow grease there, and the multi-paneled design was completed.

The next segment of the project was a series of double sided hanging banners. The prints were attached with s hooks and chain and really gave the vaulted space an open air feel.

We also produced a 20ft, double-sided sidewinder display that really tied the room together. The full color photography gave a pop of color to the room and provided a level of engagement as guests mingled and explored around the installment.

Various events were held in the space to promote community conversation around the initiative. The event pictured below was coordinated by Tiffany Williams of Williams & Co. Events.

Cultivating Creativity Part 2: The N7 idea box and the center table

Cultivating Creativity Part 2: The N7 idea box and the center table

Interior Design and Production: Designing a space for creative inspiration.

When we had the space and opportunity to add a "living room" scenario to our office, of course we decided to jazz up it up. We call it the "idea box". In this room we chit chat during brainstorming sessions for strategy and creative, have lunch, watch documentaries, research, youtube, work, meet with clients, etc. One of the most interesting things we've noticed is that when we invite our clients to meet in this area, they are a lot more comfortable and relaxed. A few months ago we experimented with pitching our ideas there, in the place where they're born, and its been fantastic!

We have many ideas for the idea box, so the room itself has become an ongoing series of projects. We work on these projects on-and-off depending on how busy we are, which is a challenge most of the time. Our clients' deadlines are always on top of the list, hence our own internal projects sometimes drag, but certainly keep moving forward. And nevertheless, we complete them! One of these projects is the center table for our N7 Idea Box. I want this space to be a place where if you find yourself sitting-in as a client, you feel like you're in the middle of the creative magic. I made a light box coffee table a long time ago for my living room and got rid of it over the years… but I've always wanted to make another one. So we decided to make our coffee table an exaggeration of the one I made a while back.

Jimbo recently completed a 3D mapping sculpture in the beginning of this year that was way more complicated and beautiful so he's the man on this table. He suggested the LED's versus halogen light bulbs, he's also covering the structural design in case we ever decide to dance on it. As of today the center table is still a work in progress (along with the Idea Box itself). The table is still missing the brushed gold addition shown in the sketches. But here are some pictures so far… we are looking foward to sharing a bit more on the progress of this project soon. It takes passionate, hard work to cultivate creativity.

Jimbo makes an animated sculpture!

Jimbo makes an animated sculpture!

Personal Project: Projection Mapping by James Rountree

We'd like to share a recent project crafted and completed by our Lead Production Manager Jimbo Rountree, as part of our Cultivating Creativity Series. Through curious clicks on random projects creatives share online, Jimbo came across projection mapping projects and became fascinated by them.

Projection Mapping, also known as Video Mapping, is a projection technology used to turn objects, often irregularly shaped, into a display surface for video projection. These objects may be complex industrial landscapes, such as buildings. By using specialized software, a two or three dimensional object is spatially mapped on the virtual program which mimics the real environment it is to be projected on. This way, the computer knows exactly where to project its information as it can bend and highlight any shape or form. Almost any surface can be used to 'become a dynamic video display of 2D and 3D images that can transform what is reality for the audience into illusions and images of infinite possibilities'. Using this information, the software can interact with a projector to fit any desired image onto the surface of that object. This technique is used by artists and advertisers alike to add extra dimensions, optical illusions, and notions of movement onto previously static objects. The video is commonly combined with, or triggered by, audio to create an audio-visual narrative.*

After looking at some projects Jimbo decided to give it a shot and take on a simple box project. He researched the software to use, built a simple cube, created a simple animation and tested it. "I didn't think it was going to work"  he says, but before he knew it the simple cube was mapped with an animation. After this success he was so excited he decided to build a more complex sculpture for a challenge.

The sculpture was constructed of plywood and MDO and it took about a week to make. The animation has 18 different blocks and took another few weeks to create and test.

The sculpture was designed with multiple angles to showcase that the video is directed to each angle of the sculpture. It was created to explore the challenges and possibilities of a 3 dimensional object. When we asked Jimbo what his favorite thing about this project was, he said "I was just super stoked to learn how to do it and then work on a larger piece". The animated sculpture was first featured in the 2013 Gainesville Fashion Week Art show and is now a permanent installation for the Neon Liger at Spannk. Go check it out, and rage while you're there! Fracture gets their message across… the wall!

Fracture gets their message across… the wall!

Fracture is a company based out of Gainesville that seeks to change the way people print and display their photos by combining printing, mounting, and framing into a single elegant product.

A few weeks ago we met up with the guys and girls at Fracture to discuss ideas to pump up their office atmosphere. They recently won a contest from Turnstone to furnish their entire office and it’s looking quite awesome. They shared some of their ideas and vision, we shared a few with them, and then we went to work.

We created a few drafts and then proceeded to send some proofs.

We printed and cut on self-adhesive vinyl. Although the unusual surface of their wall tested our problem-solving skills during the installation, the final solution worked beautifully. See the finished product below!

We are also proud to announce that Fracture is a neutral7 Community Building Partner. By bringing innovation to Gainesville and their effort to work with other local businesses, they exemplify what it means to be a Community Partner.

We also would like to congratulate them as they will be hosting a ribbon cutting ceremony through the Chamber of Commerce later today. And we will be joining the celebration.
It’s been a great pleasure working with the facture team, everyone is super nice! We look forward to collaborating again in the future.

Avant Garde Salon gets a make-over!

Avant Garde Salon gets a make-over!

Neutral7 recently helped Avant Garde Salon with their transition into a new location by giving their storefront a makeover.
The new salon space is full of large windows and doors, and what better way to showcase the beautiful amount of space they have than with an elegant window wrap?

We wanted to make sure everyone could immediately see what a large space the salon now occupies, so we chose to do a simple and elegant stripe that could unify their entire space without blocking any light or views from the windows.
The stripe is also a marketing tool that lists the services the salon offers and includes their current branding and color scheme.

We also included their salon hours and products on their front doors.
Be sure to stop by this beautiful salon and say hello to their amazing staff!
Call us today to learn about how neutral7 can enhance your storefront with vinyl graphics!
